Licensing Exams (USMLE & COMLEX-USA)
Passing medical licensure exams is a critical step in being able to practice medicine and receive board certification. In the United States, physicians pursue licensure through either the USMLE (for MD students) or COMLEX-USA (for DO students), both of which assess the knowledge and skills necessary for safe, effective patient care.
DO students are required to complete the COMLEX-USA Level 1 and Level 2 CE exams as part of graduation requirements, although they may also complete the USMLE Step 1 and/or Step 2 CK exams.
